Repair and disassembly information for the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra Android smartphone. Released in August of 2020.

Nothing changed after a battery change

The old battery was very weak, over 4 years old at this point, and the Samsung Members app was saying that the battery health is low. So I bought the battery here on iFixit about 2-3 weeks ago, and successfully changed it. First of all did the battery calibration method as prescribed on the box, charged it to 100%, and let it drain, did it a few times. Still nothing changed, the phone kept saying it has 10 hours of battery life at 100% and rapidly going down from there. Samsung Members still said low health, and AccuBattery reports about 82% of battery life remaining. Next I tried resetting the BatteryStats in *#9900# menu, nothing changed. Today a system message appeared saying that the battery is degrading. Seeing that still nothing changed, I wiped the cache from the recovery menu, but it still seems to have done nothing. Has anyone else encountered this and found a solution? I read on XDA that a solution might be in rooting the phone, changing some files and flashing back to stock, so it resets the battery life to 100%, but this seems like a stupid solution to such a simple problem, if it were some other phone i would perhaps do it, but considering it's a Samsung, rooting will make me lose a ton of features I wouldn't want to lose.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi! I have same exact problem, the only difference being my old battery still holds very well so I have put it back in and will search for a solution. It seems there is no way to fix it other then go to Samsung service or some other service that works with Samsung phones, so that they can use their software and reset battery stat.

Have you come up with any solution yourself maybe?

I got mine from samsung center, they explained even though newly replaced the software updates made it draining fast. If so, why would they make updates just to affect the battery itself. It's like saying buy a new latest phone. How disappointing. I take risk though they warned me. But still draining. I tried everything reset. Clear cache, reset battery Stat. But I

1 thing I haven't tried the reset to factory setting.

could still be a bad battery, depends on how long ifixit has had the battery as they only have a certain shelf life.

Return to ifixit for a refund. Then buy a Genuine Samsung service pack battery online.
