Model A1312 / Mid 2011 / 2.7 & 3.1 GHz Core i5 or 3.4 GHz Core i7 Processor, ID iMac12,2

iMac wont boot after Reseating RAM.

I wanted to add more ram to my 2011 27 inch iMac. I added two more sticks which caused the three beeps. I removed those two and it still did it. After reseating the oem ram, the iMac wont turn on. The only thing that happens is the fan turns on and off again and again and LED 2 turns on and off with the fan. Now, when trying to put the ram back in, only one slot clicks in. I tried all four sticks of ram in another device and they work. Pls help

The slots are a bit tight in this series. Make sure you haven't damaged the slots but using the wrong SO-DIMM's the different versions have different keying. Compare the Apple units against what you bought.

I’m currently using the original ram sticks

@dhusanthb - I understand, but the other SO-DIIMs might have damaged things, which is why I wanted you to compare the two.

The RAM sticks work on another device

by

@dhusanthb - I have no doubts! But what IS the other device? Another Mid 2011 27" iMac?

by

It was an HP Elitebook 840 G1
