I need help (Flickering screen)

Hi, My Philips TV 37PFL7605H 12

Block Image

started a year ago switching off after hearing some spark or capacitor sound. It self-turned on too after a few seconds.

A few days ago, it changed and now it flickers all the time, it shows an image for less than a second, then black for a second, and so on… No sound now.

I opened it looking for a bad connection or signs of a burnt capacitor but couldn't see anything unusual.

Can anybody suggest me how to fix it? The TV is old, just Full HD but the image quality is still very good many times better than modern cheap TVs and I would hate having to dispose of it.

Thanks!

Thank you very much for encouraging me to look at the board deeper.

I found a broken weld, I resold it, and BOOM! It works flawlessly (for now)

@edumoratinos that looks like a bad backlight. A simple check for that would be to darken the room and turn the TV on. Then use a flashlight and angle the light at the screen on different areas. See if you can make out shadows or shapes during the times where it turns black. If you do, then it is your backlight that has failed.

If you do not see anything, unplug your set and remove the back cover. Then visually check the boards for any obvious damaged components. Check all the wiring and unplug the wires and plug them back in, make sure they are properly seated. Post some images of all of your boards with your question. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that so we can see what you see. It is possible that this is either a power board or a T-con board issue.
