Earbuds from the JBL Tune product lineup.

Can these be repaired?

My son’s earbuds went through the washing machine, now they look fine but show no signs of life.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Soap and water intrusion into earbuds will cause corrosion and short circuiting, possibly discharging the batteries. The best you can do is disassembing them carefully, clean up remaining fluids with tissues, Q-tips, etc, and use isopropyl alcohol to clean off residue from detergent. Let them dry over warmth from a boiler, dish on top of a gas stove with pilot light heat, whatever, to thoroughly dry off everything. Reassemble and try recharging before turning them on. There are youtube videos on disassembling earbuds; to replace worn out batteries. Testing each earbud before reassembly with a fully charged battery or temporary substitute battery may determine if electronics was damaged beyond repair.

From what I can tell the earbuds are nearly identical to the ones shown in this video:

If they are, you might consider opening them up and taking a look to see what kind of damage occurred. Perhaps some corrosion simply needs to be cleaned off... hopefully.

I would also listen to F Dryer try to clean off both inside and outside as possible.

If you do choose to open them up, would you comment a video of your attempt? I have these as my only pair of earbuds but if I can find a safe way to take them apart I would be much more willing to make a proper guide.
