Hi Dan,

It would help if we knew what you were trying to do. What's the resistor for? I ran across one thread where someone was talking about using a resistor to convert an AU model with an immobilizer to a US model without the immobilizer. Is that what you're trying to do, bypass an immobilizer? Here's the thread I ran across.

Its a 100ohm resistor. It will hook from power to a thin grey wire. The grey wire will be the thinnest wire of them all. It is a courteous anti-theft device that is provided by the manufactured at no extra cost to comsumer. Your ECM does not work at 12V. It actually starts at 9V. That resistor drops 12V to 9V so the ecm will start. It can be anywhere in the 9V range. It can be 9.0V to 9.9V. As long as the first number before the decimal is 9 it will start.

On a side note resistors allow current to flow both ways through them but there are also things called diodes that allow the current to travel only one way through them. They will also work. I once bought a big assortment of zener diodes. Since I didn't know what the different ratings were I used a multi meter and began hooking one after the other coming from the power. Make sure the arrow that is on the side of the diode is pointing toward were you want it to go. Attach them one after the other until you get a 9V range readout. Mine took 6 back to back.
