LG 27 Inch UltraFine 5K IPS Monitor with macOS Compatibility

Monitor no longer powers on

The monitor no longer powers on, and does not connect or power my MBP. It sounds like this is a common issue. Has anyone else solved?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@harrisehsan does the power LED still come on? What have you checked? What is the exact model number for your monitor?

@oldturkey03 No it does not. Nothing happens at all. There is no real sign it is working. But I spoke to a repair shop that said the motherboard has known issues that cause this, so it should be repairable. Model number is 27MD5KA

Replace the motherboard then

@senopatib I'm hoping someone here can explain how

@harrisehsan don't replace anything yet until you have at least had a chance to take a look at it. Use this guide LG UltraFine 5K Teardown to get to the boards. Then post some well-focused pictures of everything with your Question. That way we can see what you see and hopefully assist you further. Adding images to an existing question - iFixit Repair Guide

I expect this to be an issue with the power supply.
