Repair and troubleshooting information for the Sony Dream Machine ICF-C211, an AM/FM clock radio by Sony and introduced in 1985.

Radio will not turn off

I cannot turn off the radio. When I move the slider to the far left, to the off position, the radio remains on. Seems like the switch is broken. Is there an easy fix?

You didn't meantion how old it is... from the details of the age of being introduced in 1985, I suspect it is well loved.

If you have the skills to open it up while it is off, and in soldering... I would suspect the switch is a through-hole switch. From the part number, you might be able to find a replacement (I use digikey website) and then solder the replacement into place.

If you do, take notes and pictures, and make a service manual to help anyone else who has it too.

Thanks Wolphin. I picked it up at Goodwill for $5. I appreciate your suggestion, but think I'll pass on the repair - old unsteady hands & mind - and use it soley as a clock.
