Earpiece speaker not working iPhone 13 Pro Max

Hi, I just replaced the earpiece speaker for my iPhone 13 Pro Max and the earpiece is still not working, could it be a dodgy connector where the gold pins touch?

Should I buy this to fix it?

Hi Terence,

Well, it seems to me you're on the right track; the earpiece speaker would be my first approach as well. The contacts for the speaker are on an assembly called the WiFi Antenna; those contacts run through that flex cable to the motherboard so it's definitely worth trying to replace that.

Of course, if it still doesn't work after that then you're probably looking at a motherboard/audio chip problem that would require specialized expertise to fix, but I'd definitely replace the WiFi antenna first. Unfortunately iFixit doesn't have a guide for that, but the Spanish site Nadie Me Llama Gallina has just what you need.

You can buy the part itself right here on iFixit, and of course don't forget another sheet of screen adhesive so you can put it back together again.

I'd say give that a try then come on back and let us know what you found.

Hi, I know this thread is a year old, but I had the same issues, replaced the wifi antenna, but the ear piece still isn't working now. So I'm assuming its an issue with the motherboard, probably with the connector of the wifi antenna or something else?

What would realistically be the best way to diagnose this? And would the wifi not working also imply that it might be an issue with the motherboard?

And are there generally repair shops that could fix it if it were an issue with the motherboard?

*Sidenote: The wifi connection on my device still works, incase thats one of the functions of the wlan antenna. So if anyone knows what the exact functions of the WLAN Antenna are, that I could test to rule out if its an issue with the motherboard connection to the WLAN Antenna that would be helpful.

Thanks!
