Why are there lines on my screen?

I just installed the new 16.4.1 update on my iPhone 11 and now there are weird lines on my screen. It worked fine until I loaded Pokemon GO. It started out as a horizontal white line and then turned into vertical white lines, causing my screen to fade. I didn’t drop my phone or do anything that could possibly damage it. I restarted my phone and let it sit for a good 25 minutes and powered it back on. It disappeared for about 20 seconds and then came back. I think this is an internal issue and not a screen issue. Is there a way I can fix it or am I better off getting a new phone?

I also think it could be something with the 16.4.1 update. My sister’s iPhone 11 also had an issue with the update. It factory reset her phone, but saved all of the previous data (it wasn’t really a factory reset, but it showed the “hello” and “welcome to iPhone” screens). It also forced the phone to reset.

It sounds like a software problem to me, did you try a hard reset? This is another name for a force restart for your iPhone, this does not cause you to loose data, and could fix the issue:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears, then release the button.

Now if the iPhone still has issues with the screen, a factory reset might work, this will erase all data on the phone!
  4. 1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  5. 2. Tap on General, then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap on Reset.
  6. 3. Tap on Erase All Content and Settings, then enter your passcode if prompted.
  7. 4. Tap on Erase iPhone to confirm.

Thank you! I tried doing a hard reset but the lines are still there. I don’t want to factory reset my phone and delete all of the data, so I think I will keep trying the hard resets and let it sit for longer.

@nintendog909 I would backup your iPhone then factory reset to see if this fixes the issue, and let's say the lines are on the screen, then you can rule out software issues, and you just restore your backup. Here's how to backup your phone: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203977

Hello, it seems that I'm late to the party, this happened to me, but it was because some water got insight the bottom end of my phone (probably the charging port) and it could be that the water leaked inside the flex cable for the screen. this happened to me once and the next day it was already fixed as it already dried out by itself. but yesterday same thing happened and this time the white vertical lines have worsened into red persistent lines. I'll open it up and see if there's any corrotion
