Could be various things that cause it to not turn on, but the most likely cause will be a blown fuse. Will have to check for your specific car where the fuse is located for the stereo. There is also a fuse on the rear of the stereo itself on some models so this may be worth a look. Other than that it could simply be a faulty stereo or loose wiring at the back of it.

The easiest way to check a fuse without the proper equipment it to pull it out an visually check if you can see a break in the wire in the plastic part between the 2 metal prongs.

Another possibility: control (knob and pushbutton) matrix stuck, due to conductive contamination in/on one or more of the faceplate pushbutton switches.

Mine turned itself on (it had been off) upon starting the car one day. Messed with it: removed front panel to clean its contacts. Put the panel back, and the system was dead. Checked all fuses (car and on the CDX-GT565UP itself) with an ohmmeter: all good. Left the car fuses out a good long while to power cycle the device: no change.

It acted dead from that point for nearly a year, until i read the question here about pressing the CD Eject button turning the unit on. Tried it on mine, and that cleared all problems. Consider trying pressing not only CD Eject, but each button on your CDX-GT565UP’s front panel. Further details in my full answer to the Eject button question.
