VW mark 4 not starting

Hi, I have a vw mark 4 which few days ago developed a starting problem. When I put it on it turns then goes off immediately. When I step on the gas paddle, it revs high then I release it goes off.

I’ve had this happen when using the wrong key for my car (the one without the immobilizer). Check if the immobilizer light on the dash stays on or blinks before or after starting your car.
