iPhone 5s power button stuck down?

My iPhone 5s won't start up. Screen is blank and battery (by now) is discharged. Pressing the power button doesn't make anything happen.

The power button seems stuck down. No click or movement felt when pressing it.

Connecting the lightning power cord gives an immediate Apple logo for ~20 seconds, sometimes followed by a brief full-screen red flash, then the screen goes dark for a few seconds before the Apple logo reappears. This cycle continues indefinitely.

Thoughts? Many thanks.

Update: The red-screen doesn't always happen.

New information... I found a Youtube video that suggested I could get the phone into recovery mode, and restore the firmware. Sure enough, I pressed power/home in the right way and the 20-second-apple-logo-loop stopped.

I plugged the phone into my Macbook, and iTunes detected a phone in recovery mode, and asked to restore. iTunes downloaded new firmware. When it went to send the firmware to the phone, iTunes said, "Waiting for phone" and the phone started the 20-second-apple-logo-loop again.

Does this info change your thought about a board failure?

its either your front camera needs to be replaced or your nand is fried (which requires micro sotering to fix it)

Red screen of death can be caused by a few things:

- Long screw damage which results in broken traces on the logic board (where the two screw holes south of the screen connectors are on the board).

- Faulty front camera flex assembly

- Charging chip going faulty (I fixed one this month by replacing the U2 Tristar charging chip on the logic board).

Faulty front camera, luckily you just need to replace that if it is causing it, unplugging it should in result let the phone boot up, if it still does not, the front camera is not the issue and you are looking at board-level repair to fix this problem.

Chances are you will have to take it to a mobile phone repair shop that does board-level repairs. Might not be worth it for you since it's a 5s.

I would estimate the repair cost to be around $80-$150.

redscreen is usually a sign of board failure. most commonly i have seen this come in after someone has either brought the phone to a low end shop, or tried a repair at home. usually a board replacement is needed to fix this issue when i see it.

the red screen error is a persistant failure, but only shows up every few times you boot the device.
