Headphone Jack Adhesive Installation?

I'm putting in Headphone Jack Audio Flex Cable for iPad 2 Wi-Fi EMC 2560 2012 New Version Replacement Repair part - See more at: http://www.hytparts.com/000614-headphone...

However in order to do so the adhesive that was on the part when it came did not adhere to the other part. So my question is....

1) do I have to heat it for it to stick together?

2) is there any other adhesives I can use?

Or any other suggestions?
