Google Pixel 3 XL: Black screen after replacement install

I see other people have had an issue similar to this. I had a cracked screen originally on my 3XL. Bought a replacement, and installed per instructions and installation via the iFixit website. I followed everything step by step, and still seem to be having an issue with the screen coming on. Another user had this issue, but fully assembling the phone resolved the problem. I have attempted that, and still no resolution. I attempted this fix as it was much cheaper than taking it into a shop, and I would like to avoid that but if I can't get any help here I may have to bring it in.

Add.

I made sure to attach the screen before plugging in the battery. The screen seems to respond to touch, and the phone sounds when plugging in the charging cord. I managed to unlock the phone through guestimating where the buttons were and got the flashlight on. I sent off a request to iFixit for a replacement. Fingers crossed it was just a bad screen.

Google Pixel 3 XL: Screen Stopped Sensing Touch A Few Minutes After Battery Replacement

So I just performed a battery replaced and glued everything back together again. Put on the charger and charged from 0% to 100%. The digitizer, all buttons, and the fingerprint reader are working but a few minutes later the touch sensor in the screen started to fail (first the upper middle so I rebooted it thinking that would fix it then it most of the screen - can't put in my PIN, and finally almost nothing working except a small spot at the top) until eventually, no part of the touch screen was working anymore.

Google Pixel 3 XL: Change Power IC PIXEL 3XL

"I have a Google Pixel 3XL phone that stopped working because of a faulty Power IC, and it needs to be replaced.

Power button works to turn the phone off, but if the phone is already in the off state, the power button won't work unless phone is plugged in.
Google Pixel 3 XL: Screen unresponsive after battery replacement.

After replacing my battery yesterday, the screen worked fine for 1–2 hours. Then the touch functionality stopped working in the top third of the screen. Within 30 minutes, there was no touch functionality except for the bottom 5 mm of the screen. I left it overnight, and now the screen flashed a few colors and won't turn on. I assume the phone is on since it vibrates when I hold the power button. After opening it up again, I checked the connectors for display, battery, buttons and coil, which were correctly seated. The display is still black.

Is the only option a replacement screen, or is there something else I can try before committing to that option (200€).

EDIT:
For some reason, the screen now flashes on dimly and the shuts off quickly while a white line appears in the top third of the screen when I press the lock button.

EDIT 2:
After turning off and on again, the display turned on for a split second showing the boot process, but faded to black right away. I can make out a faint Outline of the google logo afterwards, but nothing after. I'm starting to suspect that the backlight isn't working...

Google Pixel 3 XL: Phone Is Non-Responsive After Screen and Charging Assembly Replacement

PHONE: Google Pixel 3 XL 64 Gb

ISSUES:

Screen does not turn on. No vibrations when plugging in or out, or long pressing the power button plugged in or out. No signs of life from a normal user perspective.

BACKGROUND:

Moderate-Advanced electronics knowledge

After living with a cracked screen and bad charging port for the last year, I finally decided to replace them with the parts that I had ordered a year ago to take advantage of winter break.

iFixit Parts in hand (RE-CONFIRMED ORDER: Google Pixel 3 XL Screen, Google Pixel 3 XL Charging Assembly), I went through the following tutorials:

Google Pixel 3 XL Charging Assembly Replacement (Full)

Google Pixel 3 XL Screen Replacement (Step 15-23 - charging asm tut covers 1-14)

Google Pixel 3 XL Back Cover Adhesive Installation

Everything seemed to go, ok-ish. The screen and back removal was a bit of a pain, so I ended up using my hobby heat gun along with the microwave gel pack, suction cups, and picks provided in the standard iFixit phone kit. My gun gets hot, but I never stayed in one spot, always swept across the edge I was prying apart. this took approximately 60 minutes to remove the front and back.

Removed everything, replaced the parts, and re-assembled everything in reverse order after applying screen adhesives (yeah, I know. There was one cord so I figured WTH). The back was lightly assembled, including the fingerprint sensor, and closed it up without back adhesives.

Tried turning it on, and nothing. No screen life, no vibrations, nada.

After 3 repetitions of the same procedure, each time finding something that I thought may have been the cause, I'm still left with a dead phone. It appears that all contacts are engaging, and all wires are hooked up.

I've tried reconnecting the screen but it was destructively removed and is difficult to attach with the new screen connector so close in proximity. The charger was not swapped back to the original either due to the fact that it was charging. I'm attempting to avoid a 4th teardown, but I'll do it if it may be a potential cause.

I'm stuck now, and about to start needing my phone again... and slowly going mad.

BIGGEST LEAD SO FAR:

While playing with toggling the USB power on and off and the battery connector on and off, some sequence of disconnecting connections cause 4 separate instances of vibrations. Two screws were removed on the motherboard shield directly before this was observed. I haven't been able to replicate the vibrations since though, but will continue trying different sequences after posting this.

POTENTIAL ISSUES AND OBSERVATIONS:

Draws 0.47A at 5.18V when plugged into my usb amp-voltage meter. Confirmed it was the battery drawing power after first suspecting a short. There could still be a short, but it isn't registering in my non-technical diagnostic methodology.

No visible damage or missing SMD components.

Heat gun was used on screen and back.

Broke the plastic sim card ejection pin in the process. Still works but no longer waterproof.

Several push pin parts found in the phone after the first assembly. All now removed.

Broke the screen frame by accidently removing it during screen delamination process and was too aggressively cleaning it. Superglued it back together and now seems to work fine. Gapping, but minimal (0.25mm or less).

Power may have been reconnected accidently during the first re-assembly.

Missed the earpiece gasket the first time

Missed that the USB port has a plastic bracket above it that needs to be reused the first time.

Missed one screw near on the charging assembly the first time.

Missed the button array connector the first time and assembled it behind the motherboard unconnected the first time.

leftover rubber gasket parts from the screen kit. Did not find anything on these parts in the tutorials and I'm not sure what they are for. Guessing they were used for packaging. Don't see the relevance given the issues either.

Never applied the back adhesives, but I did fray out all contacts and press the phone together when attempting to turn on.

Non-Contact Voltage Tester was reading power across the whole motherboard / phone once the Charging assembly was installed.

Haven't tried testing for shorts. Will need advanced help and reference points (have a multimeter).

Thanks so much in advance! I know this is a long read, but in my experience it gets us closer to a resolution faster if I'm more detailed in the beginning.

Thanks again,

Brian

Google Pixel 3 XL: How hard is it to restore the water resistance?

I have a Pixel 3 XL a family member broke the screen on, so I bought a donor phone to get the screen and got the phone going and it worked out well (outside of ripping the matched camera on one side, and fingerprint reader but since I was working with a donor device heh), didn't even have to recalibrate the finger sensor because I reset it and never touched it until I could confirm it works. They didn't want it back, so free phone (well, outside of needing to buy a parts phone).

Is it possible to restore the water resistance reliably on these, or should I consign myself to no water resistance and just seal it well enough to close (but be serviceable) once I replace the battery? The battery I put in was bent in (pulled from the donor) removal a little, but it worked for testing.
