Google Pixel 2: Display faulty after battery replacement - found connector damaged

I replaced the battery of my Pixel 2 after the iFixit-instruction.

After reassambling the display behaves odd - display is very dark, and if I slide the brightness settings slightly higher, the display gets very greenish and I see a lot of display shifts and artifacts.

I tested it with anoter display on same device - does not work.

I tested both displays with anoterh px2 device - there it works.

I had a look with a microscope (at my company) around the display connector, and noticed that two tiny components are clearly missing (solder points broken out), which most likely happened during removing of the display connector.
Could this be the reason?

Now the questions:

which components are at this location?

Can I buy replace?

How or who can I could solder it onto the board? I have no special solder equipment for this purpose (only a good microscope at work...).

The chance to find these broken components on my desk is very small (or nearle 0%).

Any ideas?

my damaged:

Google Pixel 2: Dead Pixel 2 Data Retrieval with Dead CPU

I have an old Pixel 2 with a suspected Dead CPU. When the phone originally died it just went black and would not vibrate or respond at all. at the time it was out of warranty and couldn't be replaced. Is there any effective way to try and power the phone so that the SSD can be read like a USB in my computer? I am attempting to avoid taking it to a shop since I am just trying to recover the data not the phone.

Google Pixel 2: Battery replaced but screen shows static

I made it all the way through the instructions but when I replaced the screen the screen shows nothing but static like an analog tv with no signal.
Google Pixel 2: Echo after phone reassembly

I’m having an issue with an echo heard on the recipient side of calls after fixing my Pixel 2. I followed the instructions for the battery replacement kit and ended up needing a new display. Since I needed to order a new display I ended up ordering a new charging circuit as well (the original USB-C was super loose). I completed the charging circuit replacement (and saw the note at the bottom about remembering to move the microphone board over as well). I put the phone completely back together, and before sealing the display with adhesive, powered the phone on and made a brief call to verify all was working and sounding good. All has gone well in the 1 week since the repair. I’m finding now though that recipients of my calls hear what they describe as an echo of their own voice, delayed by a few milliseconds. The echo can’t be heard from my end and I’ve verified it with a few more calls. I tested a little bit more, and when I turn speaker-phone on my end, my call recipients claim the echo goes away.

Google Pixel 2: The camera and USB charging port stopped working after repair?

So basically I had a bad battery and a camera that was having OIS issues and ordered a replacement for both. I turn off the phone, take the device apart making sure to be extra careful around the ribbon cables, and replaced the battery and the camera. I didn't peel away any of the silver tape on the replacement camera, and the only reason I bring it up is because the original seemed to be attached to the front facing camera by this thin silver tape (not a flex cable or anything, possibly a grounding cable.

What's even weirder is the inside of my phone has a few pieces that the guide doesn't, such as the silver tape on the cameras, and a metal plate covering the motherboard {not the midframe})

anyway, replaced the camera, hooked everything back up, and when I turned the phone on, the camera now not only doesn't work, but it seems that NEITHER camera is even being shown as FUNCTIONING (downloaded a hardware test, shows no cameras connected to the device, and I only swapped out the back camera! Never even touched the front! And to top it off, the USB C port won't even take a charge now!

I have no idea what I did to this device at all. I've taken it back apart 3 times now, turned it off, cleaned all the contacts with isopropyl alcohol, reconnected, tested again and still bust. I had ordered a replacement charging port but that was only because I felt the vibration motor was going out; the charging port worked fine, and I didn't want to solder it back on (don't know why they would even solder it to the board but whatever) and I'm just in need of some help. Anybody who can help PLEASE! I will give 120$ to the person who can help me come up with a solution, I'm not kidding! That's how much I'm in the phone for so if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated!!!! Thank you!

I replaced the battery in my Pixel 2, which mostly went just fine. It turned on afterwards and the screen works fine. However, I realized after I had reattached the screen and gotten it fully glued down that I had forgotten to reattach the small piece of metal the covers and holds down the screen cable attach point.
Google Pixel 2: Accidentally broke the press-fit connector, is their any way to fix?

Edit: The problem area circled on the stock photo

Hi, this is probably a long shot but: I managed to destroy two of the pins on the ribbon cable plug on the motherboard side of my Pixel 2 while attempting a battery change. Removing the ribbon cable was especially difficult because the mid-frame was warped as a result of a (previously removed) expanded battery and (I think) heat damage. The device now starts but the display shows static and there seems to be no touch sensitivity. I suppose any sane person would give up on a device this old, anything important on it is backed up, but its brand new battery has let it sing its happy alarm song for days from its broken electronics bag of despair...

I guess there is no fixing this short of replacing the motherboard that probably costs as much as the entire device at this point?

Google Pixel 2: Slipped and damaged a golden contact point with screwdriver :-(

Hello all!

Since my last post had received some very helpful and kind answers, I have another question to ask. A while back I was replacing the back glass on my pixel 2.... and slipped with the screwdriver. I hit the motherboard from behind and as a result caused a dent at the speaker contact point. Now all the top speaker does is make a crackling sound that never ends.

I have attached a pic. The bottom golden point that was obviously damaged got hit from behind. Is there a way to fix this without resorting to microsoldering? On the second pic, the speaker and its two golden contact points are visible. If I use a piece of tape to block the bottom pin from connecting to the dented point, the speaker doesnt engage at all unfortunately. It may need both connected to work. When I sticked a piece of copper tape on it, the audio started to falter intermittently.

Google Pixel 2: Review of failed replacement of a battery

Hi guys,

I tried battery replacement for my Google Pixel 2 and failed it.

I accept my failure this time and will get a new phone, but wanna win next time.

I would appreciate it if you could help review the failure.

Replacement process:

I got a battery replacement kit for Pixel 2 from iFixit and followed the instructions (Google Pixel 2 Battery Replacement).

After placing everything back, the phone did not turn on.

Symptoms:

The display does not show anything.

The new battery is supplying power to the device because it vibrates momentarily when I touch the fingerprint sensor.

When I connect the device to the charging cable, it makes a long vibration (an indication of battery charging starting).

A long push of the power button does not make a long vibration (an indication of the device turning on).

Mistakes:

When the display panel is opened, the opening pick got into between the cover glass and the thin display film, causing a part of the display to detach from the glass.

When the midframe was removed, I did not notice the metallic tape attached to the top left of the frame (picture attached) must have been peeled. I found it after I tore the tape off.

Questions:

Is it possible to identify what the fatal mistake was causing the issue?

What is the function of the metallic tape I tore?

Any chance to revive the device?

Thanks,
