Sony ZS-RS60BT Troubleshooting

This troubleshooting guide will help diagnose issues with the Sony ZS-RS60VT Personal Audio System.

Skipping CDs

Audio is distorted and spotty. Sounds may stall on a particular portion of the disk’s contents.

Scratched Disk

It is possible that the skipping is caused by a damaged CD. Check to see if the CD is damaged or dirty. If dirt is present on the CD, try wiping it clean with a soft cloth or disk cleaning fluid. If the CD is visibly scratched, it could possibly be repaired using a disk repairing machine.

Faulty Disk Drive

If there is no damage to the CD, it is possible that the disk drive is faulty. The disk drive may need to be replaced in order for the disk to be read properly and produce adequate, continuous sound.

CD Will Not Play

The CD player does not spin the CD and the device produces no sound.

Faulty Disk Drive

The disk drive may need to be replaced in order for the disk to be read properly and produce adequate, continuous sound.

Distorted Radio Signal

Your Sony ZS-RS60BT will not pick up any radio signals, there is only white noise no matter the radio frequency you tune to, or the signal is distorted.

Antenna Positioned Incorrectly

Check to make sure the antenna is properly attached and positioned. If it is not extended to full length, it may need to be extended farther. It may also need to be angled in a different direction. If the antenna is missing you may need to purchase a new antenna from Sony.

There may be a temporary problem with the antenna’s ability to receive signal. Sometimes these problems fix themselves over time. If the problem persists then a new antenna may need to be attached. You can shop for a new antenna here. To learn more about detaching and replacing a faulty antenna, please consult this guide.

Signal Interference

Radio signals do not work very well in certain buildings where the radio frequency cannot adequately reach the antenna. For example, it is common for radios to not function properly in basements, rooms with no windows, brick buildings, etc. Be sure that the cause of the problem is not the building you are in. Try using the radio near a window or outside to determine if this is the problem.

Poor-Quality Audio

There is unwanted noise when you try to play any audio through the Sony ZS-RS60BT. The sound crackles or becomes distorted when the volume is turned up.

Antenna Positioned Incorrectly

Check to make sure the antenna is properly attached and positioned. If it is not extended to full length, it may need to be extended farther. It may also need to be angled in a different direction. If the antenna is missing you may need to purchase a new antenna and replace it. Learn how to replace the antenna by consulting this guide.

Station Tuned Incorrectly

You may need to adjust the station tuning if the white noise is heard when trying to use the radio.

Malfunctioning Speakers

The device speakers may need to be replaced if neither adjustment of the antenna nor tuning fix the audio quality.

Device Won’t Turn On

Your Sony ZS-RS60BT will not turn on.

Device is Unplugged

Make sure the Sony ZS-RS60BT is securely plugged into the outlet. If there are no batteries in the device, an external power source is required.

Non-Functioning Outlet

Make sure the outlet the Sony ZS-RS60BT is plugged into is functioning properly. Try testing another device in this outlet to ensure the problem is not due to the Sony radio.

Faulty Batteries

Check the battery compartment. If the batteries are missing, dead, or not securely in place, they must be replaced or adjusted. Please consult this guide for more information on how to replace the batteries.

The device won’t power on even with good batteries. I tried using the AC power as well but no luck. How do I troubleshoot ?
