Laptop Will Not Power On
Your laptop will not respond or power on.
Faulty Power Adaptor
Your laptop’s power adaptor may be faulty if the laptop runs when the battery is charged but it will not recharge. To check if your adaptor is the problem, borrow and test a different adaptor. If the laptop charges during the test, you need to buy a new power adaptor.
Faulty Battery
If your laptop is not holding a charge or no longer charges when plugged in, your laptop may have a dead battery. This occurs after long-term use or due to a faulty battery. Follow this guide to replace the battery.
Pen Not Charging
Pen does not hold a charge or charge when inserted into the laptop port.
Pen Not Inserted Correctly
If the pen is not inserted completely into the charging port, it will not charge. Ensure the pen is fully inserted into the slot with no excess space.
Pen is Damaged or Faulty
If your pen has any distinct chips or damages, especially near the metal charging connector, you may need to replace the pen. If there is no damage to the pen, check the charging port on the inside of the laptop. Follow this guide to assess the issue and replace the charging port if needed.
Keyboard/Touch ID Not Responding
Your laptop responds incorrectly or not at all when keys are pressed or the touchpad is used.
Faulty Software
If your keyboard is not responding properly, there may be a software issue where the operating system is not recognizing the keyboard. Try rebooting your laptop by holding down the power button if you are unable to use the touchpad.
Keyboard Settings
It is possible that unwanted keyboard controls were turned on during use. Navigate to your laptop’s settings, and search for your keyboard controls. Turn off any undesired settings, such as Sticky Keys or Toggle Keys.
Faulty Touch ID
If the touch ID is not scanning your fingerprint, it may be disconnected from the motherboard. Ensure the cable is connected to both the touch ID and the motherboard. If this does not solve the issue, you need to replace the touch ID. Check out this helpful guide.
Distorted Audio
The audio sounds strange when coming out of headphones or the laptop’s speakers.
Faulty Headphones
The audio may be distorted due to the headphones that are plugged into the laptop. Plug them into another device to see if the audio sounds normal. If it does, then the problem is with the laptop. Otherwise, the headphones are faulty and should be replaced.
Faulty Audio Jack
If the headphones appear to work with another device, the issue may be with the laptop’s audio jack. Check for dirt or debris in the audio jack.
Faulty Speakers
If the audio is distorted when being played directly from the laptop’s speakers, it is because of a problem with the speakers themselves. Check out this guide to replace the speakers.
Computer Crashes
The operating system on the laptop experiences reduced performance or stops working completely.
Malware/Virus
If your laptop constantly crashes, you may have a virus. Some indications are pop-up ads, unknown app installments, or reduced performance of your laptop. You can check by using a malware scanner. If there is a virus, you need to reset your computer and install anti-virus software.
Laptop Overheating
Your laptop may have crashed because it was overheating. If this is the case, the issue may be a faulty fan. Check if the fan is the issue by putting your hand over the air vent and feeling for airflow. If there is nothing, you need to clean or replace the fans. Another possibility is clogged vents, which you can clean with compressed air.
Not Enough Storage
You are unable to download new programs or save files to your laptop.
External Storage Devices
You can transfer files into devices such as an external hard drive, USB, MicroSD, or memory card. This will clear space for you to store new programs or files into your laptop.
SSD Too Small
If you are having an issue with space on your laptop, the solid-state drive may be too small. Check out this guide to upgrade the M.2 SSD.

Good morning please my Lenovo Yoga X1 has a display problem. As soon as I turn it on, the screen shows horizontal lines, and sometimes the entire display flickers or shakes. The issue appears even before Windows starts. However, when I connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV, the picture is perfectly normal. Screenshots also look normal. The problem is intermittent—some days there are only a few lines, while on other days the whole screen flickers badly.
