The laptop is not powering on when pressing the on button.

If the laptop is not powering on, first check to make sure the laptop is charging. If the charging light comes on, leave the laptop charging for a couple hours. For some laptops, it make take up to 24 hours for the laptop to fully charge. After fully charging the laptop, try turning the laptop on again. If the laptop still will not turn on, perform a hard reset on the laptop.

If the laptop is only on when it is connecting to a charging cable, you may need to replace the battery. You can do that using this guide.

The screen is not responding.

If the screen is not responding, it could be that the hard drive or other hardware is glitching. First turn off your computer. Then, perform a hard reset by holding down the refresh key and power button until the laptop restart.

Chromebook has power, but the operating system is unresponsive or freezes.

Disconnect all unessential devices, like USB drives. Once all external devices are removed, turn on Chromebook. If the laptop continues to not start, perform a hard reset.

A hard reset erases all the memory on your computer, and forces the system to establish the software connections.

Press the power button and refresh button for five seconds. If this does not work, proceed to performing a system recovery.

System recovery allows the computer to go back to its original factory settings.

Press and hold esc and refresh, then press power. Let go of power.

Laptop is powered on, but the battery is not receiving charge.

Look inside of the computer’s charging port to look for any signs of oxidation that would disrupt the flow of electricity into the battery.

Plug the charging cable into a working wall outlet and look for the light on the AC adapter. If you see no light, then the charging cable is faulty; consider replacing it.

The battery has come to the end of its lifespan and it’s time to be replaced. Follow this guide to replace the battery.

Audio is muffled or there is no sound at all.

If using headphones, ensure that your headphone wires are un-damaged and that your audio port is clean. Damaged wires can some times be identified by tears, lumps, and knots. A dirty audio port can be cleaned gently with a q-tip.

If you are not using headphones, ensure that the audio you are listening to is not corrupted by playing another audio file.

If none of these solutions work, your speakers or audio port may be damaged.
