Teardown

Introduction

A quick guide to tearing down, how to put back together, and what it looks like on the inside.

What you need

This teardown is not a repair guide. To repair your Scanmaker Air, use our service manual.

1. Step 1 Prying open
  I used flat 2 out of the IFixIt kit I have. Slide it from USB down on both sides of device. Likely could be done better with other tools

2. Step 2 Internal clips
  Mindful of these. They are thin and could break

  Left is "front". Right is "back"

5. Step 4 Replacing + putting together
  I was mostly straight up and down with a slight angle to wiggle the USB port down. Bottom of plastic housing to battery side. I placed the orange tip after. Then snap housing back on. Feel is different but may still work (I tore down 2 that are unknown cause of failures). Make sure orange part is in before placing housing back on
