What you need

This teardown is not a repair guide. To repair your Commodore 128, use our service manual.

  1. Commodore 128 Teardown, Case Screws: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Flip your commodore 128 over

    • Remove the five Phillips screws with a PH1 screwdriver.

  2. Commodore 128 Teardown, Cover Remove: step 2, image 1 of 1
    • Flip your commodore over (again), so the keyboard is facing up.

    • Slowly lift the top keyboard cover up

    • Be careful, as there are some wires under the cover!

  3. Commodore 128 Teardown, Power Light cable removal: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • On the right side of the keyboard, remove the Power Light cable.

  4. Commodore 128 Teardown, Keyboard/Grounding Removal: step 4, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the Grounding Cable on the right by unscrewing the screw with a PH1 bit.

    • Remove the keyboard connector buy carefully pulling it out

    • Do not force the keyboard connector out! If it wont come out, you can continue by flipping the keyboard to the side. (I ended up not taking it out)

    • Remove the six small screws holding the RF Shield in.

    • Remove the single smaller screw

    • Remove the 2nd RF shield thingy (not sure what it is)

    • To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
