My Problem
I wanted to be able to transfer all my stuff to a new 320GB PS3.
Even if I repaired it, I don't trust it anymore ;-(
The thermal paste was completely dry on the GPU and was half solid half liquid on the CPU
My Fix
The repair went very well, except for one little detail. When removing the top cover of the 60GB there's a clip that prevent from lifting the back of the case and it wasn't in the guide. Using the spudger I was able to unclip it.
My Advice
I bought a 20$ heat gun here in Canada and the low temp is 375 degrees on it. I heated the parts for 25 seconds and it worked well. That's a part that isn't really well explained in the guide. Since all heat guns are different, the timing and distance to keep the gun from the board might differ.
