What you need

      • Saw off the broken chair slat piece(s).

      • Remove the broken piece from the chair.

      • Sand down the chair where the piece was removed.

      • Measure a wooden dowl similar in size to the chair slat.

      • Mark the measurement on the wooden dowel with a marker.

      • Cut the wooden dowel directly on the marked line.

      • Sand the sawed-off end of the dowel.

      • Apply wood stain to the dowel piece to match the chair's color.

      • Apply wood stain following the direction of the wood grain.

      • Let the wood stain dry.

      • Add wood glue to the top of the new slat piece.

      • Add wood glue to the base of the chair.
