Introduction
Do you have a chair with a broken slat? A broken chair slat can be dangerous for its sharp protrusions, as well as weakening the structural integrity of the chair.
This guide involves removing the broken slat piece and replacing it with a new part. Replacing the broken part of the slat improves safety and comfort, and is cheaper and more environmentally friendly than disposing of the chair entirely.
This repair requires the use of a saw. Always exercise caution when using sharp tools.
What you need

Remove the broken piece from the chair.

Sand down the chair where the piece was removed.

Measure a wooden dowl similar in size to the chair slat.

Mark the measurement on the wooden dowel with a marker.

Cut the wooden dowel directly on the marked line.

Sand the sawed-off end of the dowel.

Apply wood stain to the dowel piece to match the chair's color.

Let the wood stain dry.

Add wood glue to the top of the new slat piece.

Add wood glue to the base of the chair.

Insert the new slat piece into the missing space.

Add the clamp to keep it in place for at least 30 minutes.

Let the slat piece dry for at least 24 hours.

The chair is then ready for use.
