Introduction
Use this guide to replace cracked or broken cooktop glass on a Whirlpool range. It was written for Whirlpool model YWEE745H0LZ1 and cooktop glass part number W11112610. Other Whirlpool ranges may use a similar layout with minor differences, so confirm the model number and replacement part before ordering.
What you need

Step 1 Inspect the cooktop and replacement part

Inspect each surface element through the damaged glass for obvious cracks or other heavy damage.

Replace any badly damaged element before installing the new glass.

Find the model and serial label on the range and verify model YWEE745H0LZ1 before ordering parts.

Confirm that the replacement cooktop glass is part number W11112610 for this model.

Inspect the new glass, all four corners, and the perimeter gasket for shipping damage before installation.

Step 2 Prepare the range and floor

Turn all surface controls off and let the cooktop cool completely.

Lay an appliance glide, sheet, or cardboard in front of the range to protect the floor.

Pull the range straight out from the cabinet.

Step 3 Remove the bullnose cover
-
Remove the three screws securing the bullnose plastic cover with a Robertson screwdriver.
-
Wiggle the cover free and set it aside.
-

Step 4 Lower the control panel
-
Remove the left and right screws securing the control panel with a Robertson screwdriver.
-
Lift the control panel upward from both sides.
-
Rock the panel gently if it does not release right away.
-

Step 5 Remove the cooktop screws and rear trim

Remove the three front screws holding the cooktop in place.

Remove the three screws securing the rear trim piece.
-
Hold the rear trim and wiggle it free.
-
Remove the two bottom screws that secure the cooktop panel.

Step 6 Remove the old glass and clean the elements
-
Lift the old cooktop glass assembly up and off the range.
-
Use needle nose pliers, tweezers, or a vacuum to remove all glass fragments from the elements.

Step 7 Position the new glass

Set the rear edge of the new cooktop glass over the rear ventilation pipe.

Lower the glass into place so the rear metal section fits inside the cooktop opening.

Pull the ventilation pipe out slightly if needed so it seats correctly against the new glass.

Slide the glass forward until it sits fully in place.
-
Check that the mounting holes line up before reinstalling any screws.

Step 8 Secure the glass and rear trim

Align the rear trim openings with the brackets at the back of the cooktop.

Seat the rear trim so it sits flush on both sides.
-
Reinstall the three rear-trim screws with a Robertson screwdriver.
-
Reinstall the two bottom cooktop screws.
-
Reinstall the three front cooktop screws.

Step 9 Reinstall the control panel

Lift the control panel back into position while supporting it from both sides.

Guide the left and right brackets behind the control panel as it seats.
-
Reinstall any loose indicator light before you continue.
-
Reinstall the left and right control-panel screws with a Robertson screwdriver.

Step 10 Reinstall the bullnose cover

Orient the plastic cover so the two side brackets line up with their slots.

Hold the cover in place and reinstall the three screws.

Step 11 Restore power and test the cooktop

Plug the range back in or turn the circuit breaker on after every panel is secured.

Push the range back into position over the floor protection.

Test all surface elements and indicator lights.
