Introduction
This guide shows how to replace or install a wall bumper, also known as a wall guard.
A wall bumper helps protect walls from door handles and can also be used to protect nearby furniture. Without one, heavy doors can swing open and strike the wall, potentially scuffing paint, damaging drywall, or even harming the door itself if the impact is strong.
What you need
-
-
Position the wall bumper against the door to help determine the correct center point before mounting it on the wall.
-
-
-
-
Insert the drywall anchor into the hole you created.
-
The drywall anchor is a key component for installing the wall bumper. It supports the screw inside the drywall, since drywall alone is not strong enough and may loosen over time.
-
Use a hammer to hit the anchor into the drywall so it is flush.
-
-
-
Hold the wall bumper in place and do not move it, as shifting it may cause misalignment and lead to an unsuccessful installation.
-
Drive the screw in slowly to control depth and ensure it engages the anchor. If over-tightened, it may loosen and prevent the door handle from properly contacting the wall bumper.
-
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
