Introduction
Go to step 1 ↓The face plate and back plate serves as the primary housing for the A, B, X, Y buttons, start and select buttons, and D-pad. The primary issues of the faceplate are often due to physical damage or grime building up in and around the controller. When handling this device (especially the motherboard), be careful not to damage any of the fragile components or vibration motor. Place the controller face down.

Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven 9.2 mm Phillips screws that secure the rear case.

Use both hands to lift the backplate away from the controller.
