What you need

    • Disconnect the mouse from your laptop/personal computer.

    • Remove the three mouse skates with a prying tool.

    • Your prying tool may slip when removing the skates so proceed with caution.

    • If new skates are needed, purchase them at SteelSeries Rival 3 Mouse Skates.

    • Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove the four screws from the base of the mouse and remove the casing.

    • Remove the wire that is connected to the circuit board of the mouse as shown in the image.

    • The wire and the socket can be damaged if not handled with care.

    • Carefully take off the circuit board and lay it on the surface being used.

    • Be careful when doing so to prevent the wire connected to the base of the mouse from breaking.

    • Remove the four black screws along the circuit board using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

    • Remove the scroll wheel by taking it out of its socket.

    • The socket is the silver tower that allows the mouse to turn while keeping the scroll wheel stiff.

    • Insert your new scroll wheel into the tower where the scroll wheel was originally.

    • Ensure not to apply excessive force during the process.

    • Before you put the mouse back together, make sure the scroll wheel turns smoothly in order for the mouse to work.
