      • Determine if the battery needs replacing, either by visually seeing a red flashing light on the front keypad, or being unable to unlock the door.

      • Remove the two mounting screws from the inside lock unit, and remove the outer casing to reveal the internals of the lock.

      • Ensure the screws are set aside for reassembly.

      • Gently disconnect the old 9V battery, making sure to take caution around the connecting wires. Damaging them can lead to a broken keypad lock requiring a much more complicated fix.

      • Dispose of the old battery safely at a battery recycling location. Do not throw the battery into the garbage or recycling.

      • Replace the old battery with a new 9V battery by reattaching the connectors to the new battery, again taking caution around the connection wires.
