What you need

    • Turn off and unplug the washing machine before removing or cleaning the dispenser drawer.

    • Keep water away from the control panel, power cord, and plug while cleaning.

    • Use a brush kept only for cleaning, not one that will be used for brushing teeth.

    • Find the dispenser drawer at the top left of the washing machine front panel.

    • Place a hand under the drawer handle and pull the drawer straight out until it stops.

    • Don't force the drawer past the stop, because it is still locked in place.

    • Inspect the dispenser drawer cavity inside the washing machine before refitting the drawer.

    • Use a cleaning cloth with hot, soapy water to wipe inside the cavity.

    • Do not use a brush inside the cavity, because dropping it down the hole can lose it inside the machine and damage the washer.

    • Use a cleaning cloth to wipe the rubber seal clean.

    • Plug the washing machine back in when all cleaning is complete and the area is dry.

    • Make sure there are no clothes in the drum.

    • Run the hottest available wash program, such as a 90 °C Cotton cycle or the Drum Clean option.

    • This hot empty wash flushes loosened residue from the machine before the next laundry load.

Conclusion

The dispenser drawer should now slide in and out smoothly, and the drawer area should be cleaner for future washes. Repeat this cleaning periodically to reduce detergent residue, conditioner buildup, mold, and laundry odors. Repair didn't go as planned? Ask our Answers community for help.
