    • Using a heat gun, or a hair dryer on high, heat the screen, focusing on the edges around the screen to melt the glue holding the screen on.

    • After heating, insert picks around the barrier of the screen as wedges to help with pulling the screen off.

    • The screen will begin to pry off with the picks inserted; however, a suction cup can be used to assist in separating the screen from the casing.

    • Unclip the black tab covering the motherboard and screen ribbon cables.

    • Use a spudger or tweezers to pull the ribbon connecting the screen to the device, disconnecting it entirely.

    • Remove the fourteen 4 mm screws holding down the backplate using a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

    • Use an opening tool to remove the backplate.

    • Disconnect the headphone jack and side button ribbon cables that are both connected to the motherboard.

    • Remove the two 2.4 mm screws from the motherboard using a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

    • Remove the motherboard with an opening tool or your finger.
