Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ Battery Replacement

Introduction

Go to step 1 ↓

My tablet has been in use for nearly four years, and watching YouTube for an hour consumes 15% of the battery. However, local repair shops were unwilling to help me replace the battery, citing the high cost of the Samsung screen and the difficulty of the repair, so I decided to purchase a repair tool and a replacement battery to try it myself. This process references the Galaxy Tab S8 screen replacement tutorial from the Total Care channel on YouTube and the S8 Ultra battery replacement step by @ischmittrepair on iFixit. Thanks to them for their contributions.

      • Use a heating device to heat one corner of the tablet from the back to approximately 40-50°C. Attach a suction cup to the corner, and apply a small amount of isopropyl alcohol into the gap (stay at a distance to minimize the inhalation of toxic fumes).

      • Once a gap is opened, insert a plastic pick into it, and continue applying isopropyl alcohol to separate the display from the back panel.

      • ‼️‼️Attention!!!!: Pay close attention to the insertion depth of the plastic pick. Do not exceed the width of the display's black border to avoid damaging the display cables, especially in the bottom keyboard connection area (the blue box). Also, be aware that there are protrusions on both sides of the front camera (the red circles); do not force the pick through these areas—carefully bypass them.

      • Carefully lift the display assembly, disconnect the display cables from the motherboard, and separate the display from the back panel.

      • For specific steps, you can refer to the video in the next step.

      • Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove all the screws from the black plastic cover on the back panel and keep them in a safe place.

      • The fingerprint recognition module is integrated into the black plastic cover.

      • Remove the black plastic cover as shown in the image.

      • As seen in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra replacement battery installation guide, the ribbon cable logic for the S8+ and Ultra is the same. The thick cable in the middle connects the motherboard to the display, the thin yellow cable on the left connects the motherboard to the lower keyboard connection point, and the short ribbon cable on the right connects the motherboard to the daughterboard.

      • Attention ‼️: You must use a spudger to pry open the battery connector (I) first to avoid damaging the motherboard during subsequent operations.

      • Next, pry open the motherboard to display ribbon cable (II), the keyboard to motherboard ribbon cable (II), and the daughterboard to motherboard ribbon cable (III).

      • Removed motherboard cable

      • The adhesive layout logic for the battery is actually similar to Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra replacement battery installation; apply isopropyl alcohol to dissolve the adhesive, and simultaneously use a spudger to pry open. The removed battery adhesive and back plate are shown in the image.

      • Apply double-sided adhesive (I used 3M 9448 0.16 mm) to the original bonding locations and install the new battery. Adjust the battery position carefully to ensure the battery cable can be connected to the motherboard.

Conclusion

When performing reassembly of your device, follow the instructions in reverse order.

In reality, this step is more tedious, especially when re-adhering the screen; you need to clean off the old adhesive and apply new adhesive, while also paying attention to the curing time (using books to weigh it down or rubber bands to secure it) to ensure the screen is firmly attached and no gaps appear. (Regardless, since you have chosen to perform the repair yourself, don't worry about water resistance.)
