Introduction
Routine cleaning helps keep drying times short, prevents detergent buildup, and reduces wear on the drain pump in a Samsung combo washer-dryer. This guide covers the filter cartridge, lint housing, drain pump filter, dispensers, and a hidden lint-prone area in the heat-pump assembly that can quietly hurt drying performance.
What you need
-
Step 2 Vacuum the lint filter housing
-
Use a vacuum cleaner with a flexible hose to clean out the lint filter housing.
-
-
Step 3 Open the drain pump filter access
-
Open the access panel at the very bottom of the unit.
-
Remove the left tray behind the bottom access panel.
-
Locate the drain pump twist cap and the rubber drain hose on the left side.
-
-
Step 4 Drain the water and clean the drain pump filter
-
Hold a plastic bottle under the rubber drain hose, and unscrew the plastic cap on the end of the hose to drain the stored water.
-
Dump the bottle two or three times if needed, and wait until the hose stops dripping.
-
Unscrew the drain pump twist cap, and check the filter housing for debris or lint.
-
-
Step 5 Clean the detergent trays and dispensers
-
Pull out the small blue tray that the dispensers lead into, and clean detergent buildup from it.
-
Pry up the arrow on the outer side of each dispenser with a finger to open the lid.
-
Inspect the dispenser internals, and clean them out in a kitchen sink.
-
-
Step 6 Remove the top panel to access the heat pump area
-
Use a screwdriver to remove the two screws from the left and right sides that secure the top panel.
-
Press the top panel rearward, then lift it up to remove it.
-
Locate the heat pump system, and identify the area directly behind where the filter is.
-
-
Step 7 Remove the heat pump housing cover
-
Remove the hose from the housing to clear access to the area behind the filter.
-
Move the two hoses that cross this area if they block access.
-
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the three screws securing the plastic housing.
-
-
Step 8 Release the clips and clean the hidden lint area
-
Use needle-nose pliers to remove the hose from the coil wash system to improve access.
-
Press the right-side plastic retaining arm to unhook it from the housing.
-
Unhook the matching left-side retainer, and move any surrounding wire harnesses out of their retainers for more room if needed.
-
Use a long flat-bladed screwdriver to pop the left retainer away.
-
Clean out the deep lint buildup in the hidden filter area behind the filter location.
-
-
Step 9 Reinstall the filter housing and hoses
-
Put the housing back into place, and snap the two retaining fingers into place.
-
Reattach the hose, and reinstall the three Phillips screws on the housing assembly.
-
Reconnect the coil wash system hose you removed for access.
-
-
Step 10 Clean and reinstall the coil wash distributor
-
Use a screwdriver to remove the screw on the right side of the coil wash distributor, and pull the distributor out.
-
Clean the distributor if mineral buildup is present.
-
Press the distributor downward, then inward, to seat it during reinstallation.
-
-
Step 11 Reinstall the top panel
-
Reinstall the coil wash distribution center, the rubber hose feeding into the coil system, and any wires and screws you removed.
-
Slot the top panel into place, and press it forward at the front of the unit.
-
Reinstall the two screws that secure the top panel.
-
-
Step 12 Run the product care cycle
-
Scroll to the very bottom of Product Care mode, and press the button to start.
-
Reinstall the cleaned filters and covers, then run the care cycle you need before returning the combo unit to regular use. Repair didn't go as planned? Ask our Answers community for help.

Excellent video. My machine is only 5 months old, but I was aware that there could be internal issues with lint in the ventless units. I’ve never spent money like this on a washer and/or dryer before. Frankly, I could’ve bought my friend a car with the 2k and had her do my laundry for me.
My challenges are-I have 2 dogs; a golden retriever and a Jack Russell and we live in the desert. The little one uses my runner rugs as pee pads, so I have a load of those per week. The fur, the sand, and debris from cheap rubber-backed rugs are my challenges.
I’m a perfectionist so I’m really trying to do everything I can to avoid problems or at least putting off disassembling it. I clean the lint filter meticulously; first with a soft brush, then a microfiber cloth. If I see any fur or mineral debris I swipe a microfiber duster though the inside. I spray the duster with electronic anti-static cleaner and let it dry.
I vacuum the inside out when I see anything inside. Try to get all the wayback and to the right.
