Introduction
If the switch trigger on your Ryobi RS290G does not power on the tool when engaged, you may be experiencing a failed switch trigger. Switch trigger failures are caused by mechanical failure of the switch or a failed electrical connection. These failures generally occur due to wear or liquid damage.
The switch trigger provides power to the electric motor when the switch is activated. When you engage the trigger, the electric motor will turn on and activate the random orbital motion of the disc. No soldering is required to replace the switch trigger assembly as it is connected to the electronics using spade connectors.
Before starting your switch trigger replacement, make sure the power cable is disconnected.

Remove two 20mm and one 16mm Phillips #2 screws from the housing assembly and exhaust port.
