Introduction
Use this guide to remove and replace the battery on your Ryobi P517 reciprocating saw.
The battery is responsible for powering the saw and motor, as opposed to direct electrical power connection. When the battery is inserted into the saw, it powers the motor, which then powers the cutting action of the saw. The battery also allows for the saw to be portable, rather than restricted by a cord. The battery is interchangeable and requires charging between uses, depending on the duration of use. A poorly installed battery may prevent the saw’s function altogether. Additionally, a battery with incompatible voltage may interfere with the saw’s cutting capabilities and performance.

Position the saw so you can access the button-clips on both sides of the battery.

Insert the new battery. Ensure it is charged, so the device will operate.
