Ryobi D620H Chuck Replacement

Introduction

Go to step 1 ↓

Before you start

Due to the stress being applied to the chuck over time, the chuck can become difficult to take off by hand. If this situation happens a screwdriver that is big enough can usually do the job. Working with an impact tool can be very helpful, but you can easily damage the screw that you are trying to remove if you don't do it properly.

Safety:

For your safety, ensure the Ryobi D620H Hammer Drill is not connected to any power source before you perform any repairs.

      • Loosen the chuck all the way (or at least enough to get a Phillips #3 screwdriver in the jaws.)

      • You may need to use the chuck key to loosen the chuck.

      • Once the jaws of the chuck are open remove the single Phillips #3 screw at the bottom of the chuck while holding the chuck with the chuck key.

      • Use a pry tool to remove the old chuck.

      • Reinstall the Phillips #3 chuck screw.
