Introduction

Follow this guide to replace the motion sensor for the Ring Floodlight Cam. The motion sensor is a key component to the Ring Floodlight Cam, which is a necessity to trigger the bright LED floodlights and initiate camera recording and alerts. This guide includes unscrewing multiple screws, so a screwdriver is required for completion. A Jimmy tool is also required for the separation of the plastic shell of the device. This guide is at an easy to intermediate skill level, and requires an estimated 15 minutes to complete.

Disclaimer - This guide requires removing weather proofing for the device, so certain adhesives may have to be reapplied.

What you need

Step 1 Motion Sensor

Remove the external motion sensor cover.

Unscrew the five 7.83 mm screws using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Remove the plastic dome beneath the external cover.

Step 4

Remove the three 3.3 mm screws with a Phillips #0 screwdriver, which hold the motion sensor module in place.

Separate the motion sensor module with a jimmy tool to reveal the FPC ribbon cable.

Disconnect the FPC from the motherboard.
