Replacing the Proxxon LHW rectifier PCB

Introduction

Go to step 1 ↓

The rectifier IC on this PCB fails frequently. You may hear a pop, see some smoke, and the machine will stop working. It is possible that the motor is damaged, causing the PCB to be destroyed; if you are lucky, however, only the PCB is defective. You can replace the entire PCB, although replacing just the rectifier is cheaper. The PCB is labeled Proxxon 28547-28 or 28547-28B.

      • Desolder the two power cables.

      • Desolder the two motor cables.

      • When reassembling, ensure the correct polarity: the red cable (+) is on top, and the black (-) is on the bottom.

      • Image 2 shows a rectified PCB that has already been repaired. Two additional wires were soldered on because the conductive tracks had partially flaked off. You can also use a new PCB.
