Introduction
Go to step 1 ↓This guide shows how to replace the lenses of Ray-Ban RB4264 sunglasses (the Chromance model with a nylon frame). The lenses are pressed into a groove in the rim: the old lens is pushed out from the inside and the new one is pressed in from the front. No tools and no heat are needed.
The RB4264 uses size 58 lenses. The RB4263 (size 55) and the RB4265 (size 62) are replaced the same way, but each model has its own lens shape, so their lenses are not interchangeable.
Replacement lenses for this frame are sold as original Ray-Ban lenses, which carry the Ray-Ban logo, and as compatible (non-original) lenses made by an independent manufacturer, which have no logo. Lenses for another lens size or another model will not fit.

Look at the inside of the temple arms. One of them carries a code such as RB4264 601/J0 58□18.
-
RB4264 is the model, 601/J0 the colour, 58 the lens width in millimetres and 18 the bridge width.
-
-
-
Open the temple arms and hold the frame with both hands, close to the rim you are working on.
-
With your thumb, push the lens from the inside outwards, pressing near the edge.
-
Let the nylon rim give slightly with your other fingers so the edge of the lens leaves the groove. Work over a cloth so the lens does not fall.
-
-
-
Check the side: the curved face goes outwards and the outline must match the rim. Original lenses have the Ray-Ban logo in the upper outer corner; compatible lenses have no logo, so go by the shape.
-
Hold the frame with the front facing you and slide the hinge-side edge of the lens into the groove first.
-
Press with your thumb towards the nose along the top and the bottom edge while your fingers support the rim from behind.
-
-
-
-
Pinch the rim and the lens between thumb and index finger along the bottom edge until the whole outline sits in the groove.
-
Run your finger around the lens: there should be no gap. Gently try to turn the lens; if it turns, it is not seated or it is the wrong size.
-
Do not heat this frame with a hair dryer. It is not needed and can deform the nylon.
-
-
Clean both lenses with the microfiber cloth when you have finished: fingerprints are very visible on polarized lenses.
