Introduction
Go to step 1 ↓This guide shows how to replace the lenses of Ray-Ban Aviator RB3025 sunglasses. The RB3025 has a metal frame: each lens rim is closed by a small screw, so the lens is neither glued nor press-fitted.
Before you start, read the code printed on the inside of one of the temple arms. It should start with RB3025, followed by the colour code and two numbers separated by the □ symbol (for example RB3025 001 58□14). The number before the □ is the lens width in millimetres and the number after it is the bridge width. The RB3025 is made in sizes 55, 58 and 62.
Replacement lenses for this frame are sold as original Ray-Ban lenses, which carry the Ray-Ban logo, and as compatible (non-original) lenses made by an independent manufacturer, which have no logo. Lenses for another lens size or another model will not fit. Many original RB3025 lenses are mineral glass: handle them over a cloth, as they can break if dropped.

Rest the glasses on a soft, light-coloured cloth. On each side of the front there are two screws: one closes the lens rim and the other holds the temple arm.
-
Remove the rim screw completely with a precision screwdriver and keep it in a safe place.
-
Loosen the temple screw slightly, without removing it, so that the rim opens more easily.
-
-
-
Push the old lens gently from the inside. It comes out as soon as the rim is open, so do this over the cloth.
-
Place the new lens in the rim with the curved side facing outwards. Its edge must sit in the groove all the way around.
-
-
-
-
Refit the rim screw and tighten it gently, then tighten the temple screw.
-
The lens must not move or rotate in the rim. If it does, give the rim screw a little extra turn.
-
Do not overtighten. With glass lenses, a rim that is too tight can put the lens under stress or crack it.
-
-
Open and close both temple arms to check that the hinges move smoothly after tightening.
