Guide to fix unresponsive power- and volume buttons after a drop

Take off the screen following the screen replacement guide Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus Screen Replacement

Remove the screws marked in red and disconnect the black ribbon cable coming from the battery to disconnect the battery and therefore power from the motherboard.

Continue removing the screws marked in orange to free the tablet's motherboard. Be careful with the camera module under the shield on the right. It connects to the motherboard beneath the copper tape. lift the shield carefully from the right. You can leave the camera attachted to the motherboard or disconnect it.

Once the motherboard is out of the case you can see the contact points for the buttons on the bottom of the case. I circled those in red.

The 4 points on the motherboard circled in orange are flexible contact points that would normally make contact with the 4 pads on the inside of the case.

In my case those were bent flat from the impact making contact impossible. I carefully bent the up again with a plastic pry tool. Be cacerful no to snap them.

After this I put everything back and reassembled the tablet in reverse order. Before I put the screen back I succesfully verified the buttons were working again.

To reasseble the device, follow the instructions in reverse order.
