Introduction
To replace the optical drive/ CD-ROM in your Panasonic Toughbook CF-53, follow this replacement guide. The optical drive reads discs and CDs, so if you’re experiencing problems with reading or writing discs, and no other troubleshooting techniques have resolved the issue, follow these instructions to completely replace the the optical drive.
What you need

Orient the laptop onto its top and face the bottom towards you.

Remove the 3 mm Phillips #00 screws securing the Wi-Fi card/optical drive plastic cover.

Reach under the silver tab and push the optical drive out of the side of the device using a spudger.

Now that the drive is completely disconnected from the device, slide the optical drive out of its slot.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
