Introduction

If your Panasonic SL-MP73J hold button is loose, stuck, or damaged, use this guide to replace it. The purpose of the hold button is to lock the device’s controls to prevent accidental button presses. Before replacing this component, make sure the batteries are removed from the device.

What you need

Step 1 Base Plate

Locate the open slider and push the sliding button to the right to open the CD player.

Open the battery cover and remove the batteries from the CD player.

Use your Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the four 7 mm-long screws from the corners of the bottom interior plate.

Step 4

Find an opening between the interior bottom plate and the bottom of the player where you can fit your plastic prying tool, and gently lift along the edge using the tool.

Once you have detached all the connectors with the prying tool, lift the base plate off the interior bottom plate.
You may have to turn the base plate slightly to move it past the headphone jack.
