Introduction

If your Panasonic SL-MP73J base plate is damaged or you need to access the inner components, use this guide to replace it. The base plate protects the inner components of the device and also contains the majority of the battery housing. If the device's battery housing is corroded and in need of replacement, an entirely new base plate is required. Before replacing this component, make sure the batteries are removed from the device.

Locate the open slider and push the sliding button to the right to open the CD player.

Open the battery cover and remove the batteries from the CD player.

Use your Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the four 7 mm-long screws from the corners of the bottom interior plate.

Step 4

Find an opening between the interior bottom plate and the bottom of the player where you can fit your plastic prying tool, and gently lift along the edge using the tool.

Once you have detached all the connectors with the prying tool, lift the base plate off the interior bottom plate.
You may have to turn the base plate slightly to move it past the headphone jack.
