What you need

Ensure your device is powered off before you begin.
Use the opening tool to gently pry the back cover off of the tablet, running it along the perimeter of the device.

The following instructions require soldering, which can risk burn injuries as well as component damage for those novice in the skill. Tread with caution.

Remove any adhesive tape that is holding the wires protruding from the battery down.
De-solder the red and black wire ends that connect the battery to the motherboard.

Using metal tools can cause damage to the battery and potentially create a fire hazard. ESD safe tools are recommended for this operation.
Wedge a plastic or nylon spudger underneath the battery, moving it back and forth to separate it from the device.
Remove the battery.
