What you need

    • Before you begin your repair:

    • Unplug the shifter's USB cable.

    • Completely unmount the shifter from the clamp and remove any accessories so you're left with just the shifter.

    • Use a 4.0 mm hex screwdriver to remove the 31 mm‑long screws securing the shifter to the clamp.

    • Twist the handle counterclockwise to unscrew and remove it.

    • Grip the knurled section of the handle, not the collar at the base.

    • Use a 2.5 mm hex screwdriver to remove the four 11 mm‑long screws securing the top cover.

    • Lift the top cover straight up to remove it—the metal shift gate is sitting loosely in the cover.

    • Remove the eight screws securing the chassis:

    • Four 10 mm‑long 2.5 mm hex screws

    • Four 12 mm‑long Phillips screws

    • Lift the chassis straight up and remove it.

    • Use a long-shank Phillips screwdriver to remove the six 12 mm‑long screws securing the midframe.

    • During reassembly, make sure you install the screws through the plastic midframe, not the large holes on the metal baseplate.

    • Lift the midframe straight up and remove it.
