Introduction

This guide is used for the replacement of the fan assembly in the Lenovo Thinkpad T450s. Ample lighting and storage for small parts recommended.

What you need

1. Step 1 Fan
  Flip the laptop over so that the bottom is facing up.
  
  Unlock the battery by sliding the keys outwards. When unlocked, push the battery forwards to remove.

2. Step 2
  Unscrew all 3.7 mm Phillips #0 screws from the back of the laptop. Half of them will remain attached to the cover.
  
  Lift off the back cover.

4. Step 3
  Unscrew the four 5 mm Phillips #0 screws that secure the heatsink.
  
  The screws will remain attached.
  
  The Fan is attached to the heat sink assembly.

5. Step 4
  Use a plastic opening tool or a nylon spudger to push the fan's bundled cable connector free.
  
  Remove the fan and heat sink assembly from the motherboard.
