Introduction

This guide will provide instructions on how to replace the internal fan of your Lenovo IdeaPad U450.

What you need

1. Step 1 Battery
  Turn off and unplug your laptop to prevent the risk of electrocution.
  
  Turn your laptop over so that the bottom is face up.

  On the top left of the laptop there is a switch. Make sure it's pushed in the unlocked position.

  Locate the switch collinear with the last one and move the switch to an unlocked position.

  Remove the unlocked battery.

  Turn the laptop over so that the bottom is facing up.

  Remove all 7mm phillips head screws using the Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  Turn the laptop over again and open the laptop.

  Gently lift up the top panel utilizing the hole where the battery would be.
  
  Keyboard ribbon cable is still connected. Flip the ZIF connector up and remove the ribbon cable.

  Disconnect any wires that are connected to the top panel from the bottom of the laptop.

  Unplug the bundled fan connector from the motherboard.

  Unscrew all screws that hold the fan down using the Phillips #00 screwdriver.
