Juki DDL-8700 Needle Replacement

What you need

    • Turn the hand-wheel counter-clockwise (following the arrow) so that the needle position is at its highest point.

    • Make sure sewing machine is turned off and disconnected from power.

    • On the left side of the machine there is a presser foot lifter. Push it down to lower the foot.

    • The foot will be flush with the machine.

    • Remove the thread from the needle by pulling the thread towards you and out of the hole.

    • Loosen the needle clamp screw on the right side of the machine by turning the screwdriver in a counter-clockwise motion.

    • Remove the broken needle by firmly pulling it straight down.

    • Handle needle with causion to prevent injury.

    • Select the correct needle for a Juki DDL-8700, depending on your project.

    • Note the notch on the end of the needle.

    • The standard needle is 16 x 257.

    • Insert new needle into needle clamp and tighten the screw by turning the screwdriver clockwise.

    • Use one hand to keep the needle in place while you tighten the clamp with the other.

    • Make sure the notch of the needle is pointing towards the right.

    • Rethread the needle by passing the thread through the hole from left to right.

How do I adjust the needle placement? My needle tend to break because it hits the hole on its way down.
