How to replace the temperature sensor in your stove

What you need

      • Pull the power cord from the mains before working on the appliance.

      • Slide the built-in oven out of the cabinet to expose the back panel.

      • Remove every black screw securing the rear housing panels.

      • Beware of sharp sheet-metal edges that can cut skin.

      • Unplug the temperature sensor connector located on the back wall.

      • Remove one sensor retaining screw completely and loosen the other slightly.

      • Pull the sensor straight out of the oven cavity.

      • Insert the new sensor through the opening until its eyelet seats flush.

      • Tighten both retaining screws to secure the sensor.

      • Reconnect the sensor plug to the wiring harness.

      • Reinstall the rear panels with their screws.

      • Push the oven back into the cabinet in its original position.

      • Pull off the temperature control knob on the freestanding stove.

      • Take a photo of the shaft so the flat side faces the same way during reassembly.

      • Unscrew and remove the thermostat from the control panel.

      • Undo the screws on both sides that hold the cooktop.

      • Lift the cooktop slightly and support it to gain access without disconnecting wiring.

      • Inside the oven, loosen the screw securing the sensor bulb and withdraw it.

      • Carefully guide the capillary tube out along its original path.

      • Do not bend or kink the tube because it can crack.

      • Photograph the capillary connection at the thermostat.

      • Disconnect the tube and remove the old thermostat from the stove.

      • Lightly attach the new thermostat to the control panel.

      • Route the capillary tube gently to the oven cavity following the original path.

      • Seat the sensor bulb and tighten its retaining screw.

      • Fully tighten the thermostat mounting screws when alignment is correct.

      • Lower the cooktop and reinstall its side screws.

      • Push the control knob back onto the thermostat shaft in the recorded orientation.

      • Plug the stove back in and test that the oven heats and regulates properly.

      • If temperature control is still incorrect, recheck all connections and routing.

Conclusion

With a new temperature sensor fitted, your oven should now reach and hold the set temperature, ending under- or over-baked meals. Always unplug the appliance before future work, and treat sharp panels and fragile capillary tubes with care to keep both you and the stove in good shape.
