Introduction
In this short guide, we will show you how to safely sharpen a shovel blade. Over time, the edge of your shovel may become dull. It’s important to sharpen the blade to prevent injuries and make gardening easier.
For this repair, it's wise to wear safety gloves and goggles to avoid cuts or getting metal shards in your eyes.
What you need

Use a wire brush to scrape away all dirt and debris from the shovel blade.

Place the shovel facing up in the vice.

Turn the lever to lock the shovel in place.

Hold the metal file at a 45° angle.

Push the file forward against the shovel blade.

Flip the shovel over.

Lock the shovel in place using the bench vice.

File down the backside of the blade to get rid of the burr.

Flip the shovel facing up one more time.

Lock the shovel in place using it he bench vice.

Gently file the blade facing up for one last cleaning.
