Introduction
Use this guide to repair any chips or scratches in your wooden picture frames. Sections of missing wood, chipped corners, and scratched surfaces not only affect the appearance of a frame, but can worsen overtime if left untreated.
Picture frames often hold sentimental value, and a chipped frame can cause you to want to purchase a replacement. Rather than replacing a damaged frame, repairing it can extend its lifespan and preserves its original state while keeping it out of a landfill.
Before commencing with this process, take time to examine the frame for additional damage such as cracks or splintered wood. Be sure to clean the damaged area with a dry cloth removing any dust or debris which could interfere with the repair process.
Step 2 will have you fill in the chipped area. Allow sufficient time for the filler's drying process before moving on the color matching with the markers for the best results. It is best to paint the repaired area with more than one coat to achieve the best blend with the rest of the frame.
